The case for a bigger bike
Stem at max height on a conventional 80s era sport touring bike, sized for rider roughly 5'10"-6' tall: 
Saddle height for some chap slightly less than 6' tall:
As the saddle dips below height of bars the bike's front end lightens up and the bike takes on a very lively feel, almost racey. Specialissima indeed!
